Drama set on the border of a Mohawk reservation located between New York State and Quebec. Two women living near the border, one white (Melissa Leo, in an Oscar-nominated performance) and one Mohawk (Misty Upham), are drawn by the lure of ready cash into smuggling illegal immigrants into the United States across the treacherous frozen waters of the St Lawrence river. As the two make ready for their sprint across the ice, neither woman realises just how closely their lives are about to entwine.
